Lea Mullins serves as Assistant Vice President of Pharmacy Operations at Ballad Health, where she oversees system-wide pharmacy operations across a diverse network of hospitals in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Mullins possesses remarkable expertise in hospital pharmacy operations. She holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Mercer University and a Master of Business Administration from Milligan College.
Dr. Mullins has led the design and implementation of Ballad Health’s Central Fill Pharmacy distribution center, a multi-year project to address inefficiencies in medication distribution exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Under her leadership, Ballad Health launched a system-wide central distribution model supported by advanced robotics, resulting in measurable reductions in waste and medication errors, while improving pharmacy staffing efficiency. Her work has influenced state policy changes and positioned Ballad Health as a national leader in pharmacy automation and integrated medication management.
